Symrise debuts improved multifunctional skincare liquid formula SymSave 5E
08 Mar 2022 --- Symrise, fragrance and cosmetic ingredient giant, introduces its liquid formula SymSave 5E – an improved crystalline powder variant of SymSave H with antioxidant and soothing properties. The company notes SymSave 5E to have a “natural origin content of 60%.”
“We tested a multitude of possible combinations to find the perfect formula. As a result of this process, we’ve developed a formula with superior performance,” says Ricarda Kraeling, laboratory manager of physicochemistry at Symrise.
SymSave 5E is “developed for the skincare industry” due to its successful SymSave H formula, shares the company. Additionally, SymSave 5E and SymSave H share the same soothing benefits which include antioxidant properties.
The new formula is designed to help with “broad-spectrum protection” from fungi and bacteria to increase the shelf life of a formulated product, explains Symrise. It suggests that the ingredient can be applied to gels, emulsions, wet wipes, shower gels and shampoos.
SymSave H and SymSave 5E are nature-identical and enhance product protection against microbial contamination, including sunscreens.
On the other hand, SymSave 5E provides improved skin moisturization and better “formulation aesthetics.”
“An immense amount of research and development work has gone into this [SymSave 5E] product,” states Kraeling.
Efficient formula and microbial safe
“This new product brings convenience,” says Dr. Sabrina Behnke, senior global product manager for micro protection ingredients at Symrise.
Many Symrise customers requested a version of SymSave H that could be processed with more ease, and so the company explains that it is fulfilling its consumer demand.
“Formulators get the performance they appreciate from SymSave H. In addition, they can save energy, time and money,” adds Dr. Behnke.
Despite its antimicrobial properties, the company says that SymSave 5E has been successfully tested to respect the microbiome. Personal care products can now be microbiome tested and certified in-vivo.
Symrise aims to continue adding green ingredients to its product portfolio and hints at offering more green products this year.
Previously, Symrise spoke with PersonalCareInsights on green beauty and gender-neutral scents.
Symrise also shared its global economic recovery through 2021, reporting increased sales and earnings in its annual overview.
