Weekly Round-up: Perfect Corp. and Provident Acquisition Corp combination, Givaudan launches Silver Radiance program

Givaudan announced the launch of its Silver Radiance program to improve the quality of living while aging and Symrise received the BSB environment award for the anti-dandruff ingredient Crinipan PMC green.
Business news
Perfect Corp. and Provident Acquisition Corp. announced that the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) declared the company’s registration statement, on Form F-4, related to their proposed business combination to be effective. This declaration and Provident’s filing of the definitive proxy statement is an essential step in Perfect Corp. becoming a publicly-traded company listed on the New York Stock Exchange in the future upon fully closing the business combination.
Evolva, a specialist in natural molecules and industrial biotech, released its third-quarter business updates to reveal that the company is on track to reach full-year 2022 targets of CHF 15 million (US$15.2 million) in revenues and a double-digit gross contribution margin. Sales growth amounted to +250% compared to the third quarter of 2021.
Supported by L’occitane, Plastic Odyssey set sail for a three-year journey to the Mediterranean and Africa, South America and Southeast Asia. The collaboration aims to train 300 entrepreneurs who will be encouraged to recycle plastic into useful objects, such as paving stones and pipes. To do so they will use simple and robust machines, the plans for which are open source. Also, the Plastic Odyssey ship bears the colors L’occitane en Provence on its bow.
Launches and releases
Givaudan announced the launch of its Silver Radiance program, exclusively focusing on people aged over 55 years old. The program aims to improve the quality of living while aging through emotional, behavioral and physical benefits. The first step of the program is crystallized with DreamScentz – a patent-pending technology to design fragrances that will optimize sleep quality based on the company’s understanding of the link between scent, positive mood states and sound sleep. It is a healthy aging solution of technology and active ingredients to improve sleep quality among the senior generation.
L’Oréal US launched a limited-edition Color Riche lipstick, “Red My Lips,” in the shade “Le Rouge Liberté,” as part of its Stand Up Against Street Harassment program to encourage safe bystander intervention with color expression. The lipstick, inspired by the brand’s work with NGO partner Right To Be, will donate 100% of the proceeds from each lipstick sold to the charity. This will help train more people on how to safely and effectively intervene in situations of street harassment.
PDO Max, a woman-owned aesthetics medical device company based in the US, launched a polydioxanone (PDO) topical serum skin booster called PDO AfterGlo. This new PDO serum is touted to improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and dark circles while improving skin complexion. PDO is an ingredient certified by the FDA and naturally dissolves to be absorbed by the body in about 6 to 12 months. As it dissolves, it aids in the production of collagen.
Rock and Roll Beauty released its Ozzy Osbourne limited-edition beauty collection to be exclusively available at Ulta Beauty. The 21-piece collection exudes rock and roll while commemorating Ozzy with products and shadows named after his signature songs, “iron man,” “zombie stomp” and “crazy train,” featured in 14-pan eye-shadow palettes. The collection also features candles, Ozzy-styled body tattoos, lipsticks, cosmetic bags and a gothic mirror.
To take laundry day to the next level, Unilever’s Persil ProClean partnered with TV personality and The Bachelorette alum, Ali Fedotowsky-Manno, to create a one-of-a-kind sweatsuit. The sweatsuit features include extra large jacket pockets to hold a cell phone or any other valuables frequently found in dirty laundry, a bowtie that functions as a pocket square and hair tie and a laundry symbol decoder inside the suit coat to decipher care labels and help avoid any laundry disasters.
Essence makeup, widely known for its viral Lash Princess Mascara, announced a debut in the gaming space with its first activation on the global streaming platform Twitch. To further expand its digital presence and reach new audiences, essence has joined forces with full-service strategic marketing agency Ader and Twitch streamer, Emiru, to host a namesake cosplay contest that will stream live on the platform on Tuesday, October 25.
Awards and recognition
Symrise received a BSB environment award for the anti-dandruff ingredient Crinipan PMC green. The ingredient is produced in Germany from 100% natural-derived MB RSPO raw materials in a production site that fulfills the requirements of occupational health and safety management systems, environmental management systems and energy management systems. The dandruff-causing yeast Malassezia activates the ingredient´s anti-dandruff effect and is environmentally friendly, water-friendly and readily biodegradable. The jury honored the cosmetic ingredient for its positive impact on the environment.
Biosynthetic Technologies’ BioEstolide 250 won the Cosmetics & Toiletries Allē Awards in the base ingredient category. The Allē award honors the scientific discipline, formulating skills, resourcefulness and creativity of innovators throughout the cosmetic product development process. BioEstolides are bio-based emollients derived from Castor with a negative carbon footprint and offer enhanced oxidative stability, provide an extended shelf life and superior performance characteristics compared to other natural oils, claims the company. The BioEstolide product line is distributed exclusively by Univar Solutions in North America, Latin America and Europe and is available in a range of dynamic viscosities and Natural Origin Indexes.
The Personal Care Products Council presented its second annual Madam C.J. Walker Award for Excellence in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) to Esi Eggleston Bracey – president of Unilever US & CEO of Unilever Personal Care North America – in recognition of her dedication to advance DEI. She has been recognized for purpose-driven efforts like Dove’s founding of the CROWN Coalition to foster beauty inclusivity and eradicate hair discrimination through supporting the CROWN Act legislation, among other reasons.
Greentech Biotechnologies’ Myralys received two awards: Best Ingredient Award at In-Cosmetics Korea 2022 and BSB Innovation Award 2022 in the Environment category.
