Weekly Roundup: Firmenich appoints three master perfumers, Olaplex’s first debut in NYFW

Azelis received the highest ESG ranking (lowest risk) from Sustainalytics, and Olaplex partnered with the fashion designer icon Jason Wu at his New York Fashion Week Fall ‘22 show.

Firmenich appointed three master perfumers: François-Raphaël Balestra, Wessel-Jan Kos and Haresh Totlani, dedicated to Consumer Fragrances for beauty and home care. They are joining an exclusive elite of nine master perfumers who attained the highest level of excellence in their fields while committing to Firmenich’s values.
Essity has raised €500 million (US$498 million) in the bond market under its Euro Medium Term Note program. The purpose of the issue was to refinance maturing bond loans and finance operations. The re-offer yield for the bond was 3.094%, with a maturity date of September 21, 2026. The bond offering was oversubscribed three times. The transaction was placed with more than 80 investors. Sarah Lomas, Reviv president and CEO, partnered with Australian skincare brand Grown Alchemist. Grown Alchemist has also launched into the UK, partnering with Nobu Hotel London Portman Square to deliver its three-phase system; cleanse, detox, activate – restoring the skin cell function. The Grown Alchemist Exclusive IV focuses on aiding the hydration and detoxification of the body by nourishing the skin, hair and nails.
European Wax Center teamed up with the beauty tools expert, Tweezerman, to add credibility to its wax services. The company will offer guests the tools as the finishing step to the waxing experience.
Olaplex partnered with the iconic fashion designer Jason Wu at his NYFW Fall ‘22 show. The collaboration marked a debut for Olaplex at Fashion Week. Professional hair stylist and Olaplex ambassador Jimmy Paul created the hairstyles for the show using Olaplex products. Models with short natural textured bobs and braids with sleek, braided twists and ends sticking out. Paul explained that the 90’s minimal fashion trends inspired the hairstyles in the show.
Launches and releases
Dynamic Blending added the manufacturing of perfumes and cologne to its product offerings. The production of these lines started in August. The company offers customer-specific scents where it can also help recreate the fragrance. Once the scent is created, the R&D laboratory creates a prototype tested for safety, appearance, color and odor. The customer can give feedback on preferred changes. The steps are repeated until the fragrance reaches perfection. The finalized scent comes with the customer-chosen packaging, and marketing teams choose the most appealing packaging options.
Haus Labs by Lady Gaga partnered with celebrity makeup artist Rokael Lizama as the brand’s Complexion Consultant. Rokael Lizama is a celebrated industry makeup artist who works with singers and social media influencers, including Beyonce, Kourtney Kardashian, Mariah Carey and Normani. Amour’s Secrets Skincare announced its official launch in the US beauty market featuring natural, clean, non-toxic, plant-based ingredients that refresh, replenish and enrich the skin. Pioneering the natural, plant-based skincare movement, Amour’s Secrets is introducing five innovative anti-aging, plant-based skincare products with its initial debut featuring a Cleansing Hydrating Oil, Eye Cream, Whipped Face Cream, Mild Foaming Face Wash, and Face Scrub.
DefenAge Skincare revealed the results of a clinical study of the line’s 10 Luxe Hand & Body Cream with Age-Repair Defensins. It was found that defensin molecules can reactivate latent LGR6 stem cells in the basal layer of skin. The peer-reviewed article concludes that when applied topically, these molecules can reduce visible signs of skin aging (including the loss of hydration and elasticity) and visibly increase skin thickness.
Awards and recognition
Azelis received the highest ESG ranking (lowest risk) among a list of 178 international traders and distributors from Sustainalytics, scoring 12.4. This places Azelis in the top 5% of more than 14,500 companies rated by the firm worldwide. Sustainalytics ESG ratings evaluate a company’s exposure to material industry-specific ESG risks and how well a company manages those risks.

Zuvi, the beauty tech company, won the Breakthrough Beauty Award from Allure Magazine for the brand’s debut product, Zuvi Halo. Zuvi Halo has been scientifically proven to reduce heat damage with its LightCare technology, which air-dries your hair via a hairdryer. The benefits of the technology will increase hair moisture and reduce frizz while retaining hair color longer with light instead of heat.
Hask Beauty’s Monoi Coconut Oil Deep Conditioner won this year's Best of Beauty Award from Allure. The formulas are free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates, gluten and aluminum starch and feature the nourishing ingredients to revitalize all hair types. Finally, Blue Lizard Australian sunscreen Sensitive Lotion SPF 50+, safe for consumers and the environment, was awarded Allure Best of Beauty in the body category.
