Evonik is leveraging its biotechnology platform to create “high-value” system solutions for personal care. Anne Mu, global head of Applied Innovation Bioactives at Evonik, tells Personal Care Insights why the company’s bioactives “address both the market pool for ethical consumerism and the technology for sustainable biotech.”

Yes, this is actually our latest launch.
It's a recumbent.
Human collagen mimetic polypeptide, so serving for the replacement of animal derived collagens, enhancing the offer to the market for cruelty-free, sustainable biotechnology-based solutions.
That sounds very exciting.
Can you expand a little bit with respect to bioactives and why they're so important?
Yeah, so bioactives is a category or segment within avionics.
We are grouping a portfolio of products.
Those are all active ingredients.
They are either produced by biotechnology or they are having proven biological activities on skincare and haircare.
So this is a very unique group of offer to the market, addressing both the market.
Pool for ethical consumerism and the technology pool for sustainable biotechnologies on the clean beauty front, we're seeing such a huge demand now from consumers for clean beauty.
Is that right?
