SEPAWA Congress 2025: Mibelle Biochemistry’s overnight skin care solution

10 Nov 2025 | Mibelle Biochemistry

Iris Nido, head of sales for Switzerland at Mibelle Biochemistry, tells us about LunaRose at the SEPAWA Congress 2025. It is an organic ingredient for overnight skin care formulations, derived from Finnish rose hips, which the cosmetic ingredients supplier selected for its ability to cope with the harsh Finnish climate. LunaRose acts on biological processes closely linked to sleep and supports skin regeneration.

This is Beatrice Wilander for Personal Care Insights.

I'm here at Sepawa 2025 in Berlin, Germany.

I am with Iris Ndo, head of sales for Switzerland at the Mibel Group Biochemistry.

Welcome.

Thank you.

Thank you for this interview.

Thank you for the chance to present us and our products.

Yes, that's very nice of you.

Can you please tell us about what you're showcasing today we are showcasing our lunar rose, which is a nice, very, very nice ingredient.

It's derived from Finnish rose.

That are harvested there in an organic farming and we chose those kinds of roses because on the one hand they are pretty large so we can gain a lot of product and on the other hand, which is more interesting is that they have to cope with the day and night circles of this Canadian ribbon.

So they have the long nights during the winter and the short nights during the summer, meaning all day long.

So they developed some mechanisms to cope with that.

In addition to the Finnish climate, which is not a mild one, so this is why we chose it.

All right.

And what cosmetics formulation is it applicable for?

It's specially designed for night care and for the decollete area.

We have a pretty nice study on the decollete area where we showed an increase or decrease of the wrinkles in one night after one application and after 7 applications.

So it's really it's targeting the melatonin receptors.

Forms.

All right.

And how does this product tap into AI?

Unfortunately not at all.

It's an organic product and it's a nice product, but not with the AI because we did not have good results with the AI design products.

And do you have a target audience or a group in mind?

The nice thing is we have everybody.

We had a testing panel, Asian and Caucasian panels, and Had also boomers from Gen Z and to boomers, so we can really target everybody, especially also people with a lack of sleep, which I think is all of us and also after the exhibition.

And how is the product environmentally sustainable?

It's made out of those organic rose hips, as I said, and usually the people there harvest the flowers and use the petals for making jam.

And their roses would be discarded, so you can also call it an upcycling product, which is very, very nice.

All right.

And what is Mbel expecting from the personal care industry in the coming future?

We are expecting more innovation.

We are also closely looking into those.

Area, but on the other hand, we see a big trend in back to naturality and less, let's say strong chemical things and also the trends are looking more detailed and not just taking the botanical extracts as something for the green industry.
