12 Apr 2023 | Roquette Beauté

Bénédicte Courel, general manager of the Cosmetics Business at Roquette, talks to us about the company turning 90 this year and leveraging its extensive plant-based ingredients knowledge to venture into new market applications for personal care. The company is expanding into the intimate care and hygiene segment with Beauté by Roquette DE 006 – a microbiome-friendly soothing agent for skin and scalp to reduce redness while preserving the diversity of skin microbiota.

This is Rattika Sakara here from CNS Media reporting live from In Cosmetics Global in Barcelona, Spain.

I'm at the Rocket Beauty stand and we're talking about the company's latest innovations in the intimate care and wellness sector and in deodorant applications.

Could you please introduce yourself and tell me about the innovations?

Of course, I am Benedict Crez, the general manager of Rocket Boutty.

And we are happy to be here to actually introduce new ingredients with new features for new market applications, especially as you name it, deodorant applications, and for the first time for us, intimate care.

So what is the innovation in intimate care that you are presenting for the first time?

We are launching actually a new Dextrine, which is a soothing agent where we had a very good performance from a technical standpoint for both skincare and scalp care, which is called our Bote Barroquet DE 006, and additional to those actual information, we generated more data.

Intimate care and actually it's a very great ingredient which is providing microbiome friendly behaviors and which is something which is also very looked afterwards for men and women for their intimate -being and wellness.

We have a great ingredient which is active on the microbe on the skin and.

Balancing really the existing microbiota which preserve and provide actually very interesting, soothing and hydration actually performances, right?

What can you tell me about microbiome and why is it important to have a healthy balance?

As you know, people start to get aware of the fact that we are living as a human species.

With an entire microbiota system which is a combine of microorganisms which are very good for our health and some are actually less good for our health and could damage or impact some of our let's say behaviors and more specifically on the skin aspect, creating, for example, malodors which are really nonconvenient I would say on our.

Life a very active and busy life nowadays.

So it's very important to really look at preserving the existing rights, I would say, and -being microgans which are actually favorable to our health and trying to restore maybe sometimes unbalanced microbiota but also fight against the ones which are bad.

Microbioorganics, so I know that Rocket Beauty works with plant-based ingredients.

How are you harnessing the nature to produce these intimate care products?

Thank you for the question.

Actually, you gave me the opportunity to tell you that Rocket is going to celebrate its 90 years of existence this year in 2023.

So we are, you know, not new.

We were not born yesterday even though for the Rocket Booty brand we are just 5 years, but we are leveraging our really in-depth DNA which is 100% plant-based ingredients which are initially manufactured for the health and nutrition markets, and for years we have developed great expertise working on four main.

Which are wheat, mice, and corn, and also potato and pea, and we are really a leader on making all starches and providing great family of ingredients to serve really food and health nutrition market and cosmetics is really at the cross of those markets and that's a reason why our motive.

Is really sustainable beauty is all about skin health and nourishation.

OK, so that's really our raison d'etre, as we say in French, for being present in the cosmetics field as and leveraging our plant-based DNA that we don't have to name known I would think worldwide.

That will be all from me today.

Thank you so much for talking to us and to you for the invitation and your questions.

Thank you.
