“Beyond skin health”: Tech-backed TheraFace PRO offers personalized professional percussive therapy
13 Apr 2022 --- Muscle and body ache relief provider Therabody has launched TheraFace PRO, a portable device for facial health. At the intersection of health, tech and beauty, TheraFace PRO is designed to reduce tension by relaxing facial muscles. It also reduces migraine and jaw pain-related discomfort.
The study finds that 94% of participants reported that their skin looked healthier, and 89% saw a decrease in wrinkles. Additionally, 89% of participants felt their skin rejuvenated with a radiant glow and 89% felt an improved facial contour and muscle tone and tightness.
“We applied our origins and expertise in percussive therapy to create a game-changing product with precise amplitude and other modalities, specifically designed for the face. It has been the experience of a lifetime taking percussive therapy and so many more modalities to new heights,” describes Dr. Jason Wersland, founder and chief wellness officer at Therabody.
Holistic approach to skin
Extending the technology behind Theragun percussive therapy – which targets the body – TheraFace PRO reportedly addresses more than 40 muscles. The study finds that 94% of participants reported their skin looked healthier.

“As a physician who takes a more holistic approach to skin health, I think it’s important to look at aspects deeper than skincare that can boost skin health, immunity, radiance and glow,” says Mamina Turegano, MD, FAAD, triple board-certified dermatologist.
“Effects like promoting circulation, improving muscle tone, and reducing stress are important components to skin and overall health.”
The company claims that the device is for everyone to use – from skincare to athletes who need to care for their skin.
“Democratizing professional treatments”
Since the TheraFace PRO is portable, professional facial therapy is available to anyone anywhere on a single device.
The device is created to provide eight treatments: percussive facial therapy, microcurrent therapy, light therapy, deep cleansing and hot and cold rings.
Percussive facial therapy allows for muscle relaxation via the device’s three different attachments with frequency, amplitude (3mm muscle depth), and torque combinations. The three attachments come in Flat (general use from face to chest), Cone (precise and pressure point areas) and Micropoint (circulation in larger areas of the face).
Furthermore, Microcurrent therapy tightens the skin to improve muscle tone for contouring.
Light therapy offers three different wavelengths to stimulate the skin for rejuvenation. LED Red Light (anti-wrinkle), LED Blue Light (anti-acne) and LED Red + Infrared Light (anti-wrinkle and skin warming for reduced pain or discomfort). TheraFace PRO provides percussive facial therapy, microcurrent therapy, light therapy, deep cleansing and hot and cold rings.
Deep cleansing removes the facial buildup of dirt, oil and debris. The company notes that the device is the first to combine cleansing with advanced facial therapy.
The Hot and Cold Rings allow for improved cream absorption, reduced facial puffiness and enhanced radiance. The rings are sold separately.
Teaming with skin health experts
The Food and Drug Administration cleared facial device results from teaming with dermatologists, scientists, and skin health experts.
A 12-week clinical study was trialed on 35 US-based participants, aged 25 to 61, of all skin types – including uneven tone, lack of elasticity and dull complexions. The participants used one or two modalities for six minutes six days a week. Additionally, they received a 45-minute treatment one day a week – using every Theraface PRO treatment.
“It took us two years to develop this comprehensive device,” adds Benjamin Nazarian, CEO at Therabody.
TheraFace PRO offers personalized options that allow users to switch between different therapies or combine them based on travel, weather or life circumstances.
“Therabody’s solutions have a long track record of helping people feel better, recover faster, and achieve health and well-being. As the experts in whole-body wellness, we’ve translated that philosophy to the area of the body above the shoulders,” says Wersland.
