Gattefossé launches preservative-free eye contour active

Gattefossé has released a preservative-free (PF) version of Gatuline Link n Lift, its flagship lifting bioactive designed for the eye contour area. The ingredient is touted to supply visible lifting and smoothing benefits after two weeks of use. 

The launch taps growing demand for clean label personal care products that provide competitive efficacy. Procured from organically farmed horse chestnut flowers and hand-harvested in France, the active utilizes the cosmetic chemical manufacturer’s Natural Deep Eutectic Solvents extraction technology.

The company explains that Gatuline Link n Lift’s mechanism of action targets fibroblast activity while bolstering the dermal-epidermal junction. This aids in reconnecting the epidermis to the dermis, providing a lifting effect. Clinical testing also indicates a reduction in crow’s feet, under-eye wrinkles, and tear troughs.

Gatuline Link n Lift, which was introduced in 2017, is touted to be an established active ingredient for eye care formulations. The launch of Gatuline Link n Lift PF aims to further increase the reach of the ingredient by appealing to preservative-free formulation demands.

According to Gattefossé, Gatuline Link n Lift PF is made up of the same chemical structure and technical specifications as the original and delivers the same efficacy in formulation performance.

Gattefossé ingredient expansions

Last month, Gattefossé validated five cosmetic ingredients at its manufacturing facility in Texas, US. The company said the move strengthened its manufacturing presence in North America, directly responding to its customers’ needs for more reliable supply chains and domestic sourcing options in what it calls an “unpredictable global market.”

In another move responding to changing global climates, the company unveiled Silkaress, a silk-inspired active designed to help skin adapt to increasingly changing environmental conditions, at In-cosmetics Global 2026.

The ingredient is positioned as a “climate-adaptive” solution and aims to actively support skin resilience amid fluctuating temperatures, humidity shifts, pollution, and indoor climate transitions.

Personal Care Insights spoke with Laurie Canel, product marketing leader of Active Ingredients at Gattefossé, who told us that Silkaress is based on the idea of mimicking the softness and protective properties of the silk cocoon.

Also at In-cosmetics Global 2026, Lubrizol highlighted its Eyeseryl All-In peptide, an updated version of the chemical manufacturer’s existing eye care ingredient with expanded benefits. The peptide was developed with AI-assisted screening and is designed to address multiple signs of fatigue and aging at once, such as dark circles, puffiness, wrinkles, and sagging.
