Gattefossé has validated five cosmetic ingredients at its manufacturing facility in Lufkin, Texas. The company says it is strengthening its manufacturing presence in North America, directly responding to its customers’ needs for more reliable supply chains and domestic sourcing options in what it calls an “unpredictable global market.”
With the validation, the cosmetic chemical manufacturer’s ingredients now meet the same quality and regulatory standards as those produced at its other global sites.
The validation also marks a step in speeding up Gattefossé’s ingredient production. The company has prepared a full technical file for each of the cosmetic ingredients, including analytical and stability data, and regulatory documentation. According to Gattefossé, these files enable its clients to more easily use the ingredients in product development and new formulations, ensuring “seamless integration” into commercialization programs.

Portfolio validation
The Lufkin facility already holds EFfCI certification for personal care products. Among the newly validated cosmetic ingredients are Emulium Mellifera MB, a natural emulsifier for oil-in-water formulations that adapts to different skin types and environmental conditions.
Also validated are Compritol 888 CG MB, which works as a texture enhancer and thickener, and Emulium Delta MB, offering flexible emulsification with a velvety feel.

The expanded US production gives formulators access to domestically sourced cosmetic ingredients.Additionally, Plurol Diisostearique CG is a water-in-oil emulsifier for makeup and sun care formulations, while LAS MB is a versatile non-ionic surfactant for skin and hair care. LAS MB can be used in creams, lotions, wipes, and microemulsion systems.
The Lufkin plant forms part of Gattefossé’s wider global manufacturing network and works closely with the company’s technical centers in the US, France, India, and China.
Resilience amid volatility
Gattefossé says the validation helps its customers to source domestic ingredients more reliably, amid macroeconomic headwinds. A major global strain on the availability of materials for the personal care sector has been the Iran war.
Personal Care Insights previously looked at how the war is impacting beauty sector operations and disrupting supply chains. While some companies have turned to increased pricing, other approaches to mitigating the impact have included distribution adjustments.
Ashland, for example, recently appointed Catalite as its distribution partner for microbial protection solutions. The company previously said it experienced volatility in energy, raw material pricing, and logistical issues from the war.
Also adjusting to the volatility, LG Household & Health Care said it would increase financial support to its suppliers to maintain supply continuity. Meanwhile, Nikko Chemicals is diversifying its sourcing of solvents and enhancing supply chain governance by tightening its inventory allocation.
