Gattefossé has inaugurated a manufacturing facility in Texas, US, which is the largest investment in its history. The move aims to strengthen its presence in North America and reinforce its global expansion strategy.
The Lufkin-based facility focuses on lipid-based excipients for pharmaceuticals and personal care. Lipid-based excipients are fat-derived ingredients that stabilize formulations, improve absorption, and enhance texture and performance.
Gattefossé now operates across three continents, adding to its manufacturing facilities in Singapore and France. The company’s US location helps it secure global supply chain resilience and proximity to North American customers.
The site also aims to expand Gattefossé’s production capacity.
“This investment is not about short-term gain, it is about building a foundation that will serve our customers for decades to come,” Ségolène Moyrand-Gros, president of Gattefossé Group, said at the inauguration event.
“Choosing the US was a strategic decision. This region is not only a leading market but also a key driver of global trends in pharmaceuticals and personal care. This plant is more than a building — it is a promise to grow, innovate, and create value together with confidence, responsibility, and passion.”
Strategic location
Gattefossé has had a presence in the US since 1982, with offices in Paramus, New Jersey. It reinforced its presence there in 2017 with the opening of a Technical Center of Excellence. Now, the company says its partnership with the city of Lufkin is key to its global expansion.
The inauguration was attended by company executives, customers, partners, employees, community members, and local officials, including Congressman Pete Sessions and Lufkin Mayor Mark Hicks.
Gattefossé’s Texas location marks its third operation facility across three continents. The congressmen stressed the facility’s strategic location and predicted that it would have economic development and innovation benefits for East Texas.
“International cooperation drives shared prosperity, and I look forward to the jobs, innovation, and economic development this project will bring to East Texas,” Sessions said at the inauguration event.
The US remains one of the world’s largest cosmetic exporters. The country recorded US$3.57 billion in exports from January to April 2025, according to the Korea International Trade Association.
Across the personal care industry, many companies are reinforcing their presence in the US by adding new factories and pursuing acquisitions.
Rising trade tensions and tariff uncertainties have pushed global players to localize production. This effort is to secure supply chains and stay closer to one of the world’s largest beauty markets.
