Sleep tight: Mindi Walters Skincare tackles neck and chest creases with bedtime duo

US-based esthetician Mindi Walters has launched an overnight system designed specifically for the neck and chest — two areas that she believes are often overlooked in the skin care space, but show some of the earliest signs of aging. The beauty sleep duo from Mindi Walters Skincare is designed to hydrate, smooth, and help prevent chest creases caused by side sleeping.

The Snow Melt Overnight Mask, which retails for US$60, is a fragrance-free overnight treatment formulated for the neck and chest. 

Powered by snow mushroom, squalane, niacinamide, and soothing aloe, the lightweight treatment deeply hydrates, plumps, and supports the skin barrier during sleep. It promises to deliver smoother, more supple skin by morning without transferring to sheets or pajamas.

Why are these areas so susceptible to signs of aging, and why is it important to address them with specialized products? 

Walters: The neck and chest have fewer oil glands, the skin is thinner, and collagen production is lower, so it’s important to use products that target these specific concerns. The Snow Melt Overnight Mask is powered by snow mushroom, which is an extremely hydrating ingredient. It’s perfect for replenishing that area with the moisture it needs. I went through several different formulations and two and a half years of back-and-forth with my lab to come up with what I believe is just right. 

Can you share insights on the broader trend in skin care “beyond the face” — focusing on other neglected areas such as hands, décolletage, and the back? 

Walters: I do believe skin care is trending toward recognizing not just our faces but all the other important details that contribute to our overall skin health. For some time now, the neck has been getting more attention. I’ve been talking to my clients for years now about the neck, chest, hands, back, and knees. These are all things that come into sharper focus as we get older, but it’s always easier to start taking care of them when you’re younger, in a preventive way. 

What do you think the demand for neck and chest-specific products signals about the future of skin care, particularly in the realm of preventative beauty? 

Walters: I think it’s signaling that preventative skin care is becoming the standard. Customers are becoming very savvy about preventing problems before they occur. It’s a very exciting time in skin care.
