Personalized skincare solutions: Pour Moi’s Climate-Smart moisturizer selecting method receives US patent
25 Mar 2022 --- Climate-centric skincare expert, Pour Moi has received a patent for its “one-step method” of alternating Climate-Smart Day Creams to pair with climate and weather changes. Choosing moisturizers by location instead of one standard maximizes hydration and anti-aging results, the company claims.
“This invention represents a new way of thinking in beauty regarding how changing local climates and environments impact the skin and skincare needs,” shares Ulli Haslacher, founder and CEO of Pour Moi Skincare.
“It’s not age, ethnicity, gender or skin type that affects skincare results. It’s the climate and weather you’re in because what skin needs to look youthful and healthy in the parched desert heat of Las Vegas is different than in the thin alpine air of Denver or Miami’s heavy muggy air.”
The company’s concept of rotating between moisturizers based on local climate and weather is supported by medical research – changes in climate conditions affect the “skin’s function and skin biochemistry and the efficacy of skincare ingredients and delivery systems.”
The day creams are designed to support skin requirements in local climate conditions such as: “tropical climate (humid and hot air), a desert climate (dry and hot air), a temperate climate (normal and mild air), a marine climate (cool and humid air), a mountain climate (arid, alpine air), a polar climate (cold and dry air).”
Effects of climate on skincare
“The old thinking in beauty recommends the same moisturizer in every location and season, a one-size-fits-all approach that makes no sense. Skin is dynamic and constantly adapts to climatic and environmental changes,” continues Haslacher.
“Think of the Climate-Smart Day Creams as dressing your skin in the morning as you dress, according to the daily weather.”
The skin needs at least three days or weeks or months to adjust to new temperature ranges, and humidity levels shares the company. So, adjusting skincare to climate allows for ideal moisture balance and natural repair and defense.
“The Climate-Smart Day Creams are also the third step of Pour Moi’s patented and award-winning 3-Step Rotating System.”
Why climate is important
The local climate impacts how the skin works, says the company.
The skin located outside the body functions differently from the inner skin. Furthermore, the outer skin is described as having no water hydration nor nourishment – it relies on its own Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF) and air to find moisture.
“Clinical studies have proven that over 80% of signs of skin aging are due to external stressors from the climate you’re in,” says the company.
Customers can decide which cream to use by scanning a QR code on its website. The software Cream-Finder tells customers the best match based on their local weather.
