Amyris makes infinite what is finite in the world. Critical molecules. Essential ingredients. And clean, effective products for everyday use.
We have a scalable way forward in a world where the supply of natural resources falls short of global demand.
Clean Chemistry Is At The Heart Of What We Do.
Leaders in synthetic biology, we started back in 2003 with a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to create a molecule to treat malaria. By engineering the genetics of yeast strains and fermenting them in sugarcane syrup, we pioneered the ability to convert basic plant sugars to hydrocarbon molecules. To date, we have successfully created and commercialized a total of 13 sustainable ingredients that are used by hundreds of millions of people, in products made by more than 3,000 top global brands.
In 2020, we manufactured and sold more bio-based sustainable products from fermentation than all of the companies in our sector. This is our clean advantage and one of the reasons companies including DSM, Ingredion, Firmenich, Givaudan, L’Oreal, Shiseido, Natura, Estee Lauder, Sumitomo and many others partner with us. We help companies transform their supply chains, lower their costs and meet the needs of their customers for sustainable products.
With our leading Lab-to-Market platform, clean manufacturing and our award-winning product development and formulation team, we have also successfully built our own portfolio of sustainable consumer brands that are winning new loyalists every day. The future of health, wellness and beauty is clean chemistry, and we are leading the way with our own consumer brands and our partners. This is our winning business model.
Our mission to shift the world to sustainable ingredients will lead to other global shifts-from scarcity to abundance, privilege to right, dependence to autonomy. That’s why we pursue what’s difficult, work at warp speed and set the bar so high.
At Amyris, we aim big and broad, creating prosperity for people, the planet, and business. So that we can continue to deliver on the promise of synthetic biology and make a lasting impact.
