In-cosmetics Global 2026: Cosphatec on skin protection and product preservation

01 May 2026 | Cosphatec

In our interview at In-cosmetics Global 2026, Markus Schröder, R&D director at Cosphatec, discussed the company’s approach to using natural raw materials in formulations. He highlighted Cosphaderm Tocopharin, which functions as a preservative for products and an anti-aging, protective ingredient for skin care solutions. He told us how the ingredient leverages the properties of carnosic acid from rosemary plants to protect the skin from UV radiation.

This is Ella Janull for Personal care insights at In Cosmetics Global 2026, joined by Dr.

Marcus Schroeder, the R&D director for Cosmetech.

Hello Marcus, nice to meet you.

Nice to meet you too.

So jumping right into it, what key innovations are you showcasing this year to support modern natural cosmetics form?

One of the key innovations that we showcase at this exhibition is, for example, how to use our natural sustainable raw materials in actual trend formulations like for example, a glass skin formulation which has become very trendy coming from Korea.

Thank you.

And you're presenting a new antioxidant solution, Cosperderm tocoferrin.

How does it protect both the formulation and the skin from oxidative stress?

Costcoferin was designed in a way that it can be explicitly used not only as a product protection but also in anti-aging purposes.

So the rosemary basis, the carosic acid, can protect the skin against reactive oxygen species induced by UV radiation.

And is therefore both a possibility to both a possibility to protect your products, but also a possibility to protect your skin against the harms of sun rays.

And with ingredients like your antimicrobial and multifunctional systems, how are you?

Formulators move beyond traditional preservatives.

Actually we use multifunctional natural ingredients since 20 years to exactly provide this solution to our customers who are looking for alternatives to conventional preservation systems, so we use.

Multifunctional ingredients which have antimicrobial properties to give our customers the possibility to replace preservation systems and still get a very good preservation efficacy for their products and their formulations.

And my final question is, how are you supporting formulators with flexible multifunctional ingredients across different applications and systems?

That's exactly the purpose of Cosfotech in the market.

That's what we do.

We support our customers by multifunctional ingredients with antimicrobial activity to create alternative preservation solutions.

We support them by providing antioxidants for antioxidant protection of the products, and we support them by creating stability.

Of emulsions by thickeners and emulsifiers, but we do also support our customers by our services like PET testing, formulation advice, workshops, and by the expertise of our great sales team.
