Cosmet’Agora 2026: BASF reveals hybrid formulation concept and hair care ingredients
Key takeaways
- BASF will showcase hybrid, cross-category beauty formulations at Cosmet’Agora 2026 in Paris, France.
- BASF’s new hair care ingredients target visible hair loss and sustainable conditioning.
- The Beyond Beauty concept links sensory experience, sustainability, and emotional consumer needs.

BASF’s Personal Care business will launch a formulation concept at Cosmet’Agora 2026, highlighting hybrid, cross-category solutions and unique sensory experiences.
The concept features formulations for hair care, body wash, longevity skin care, eco-conscious UV protection (assessed with BASF’s EcoSun Pass technology), and healthy glow makeup.
At the show, BASF will also introduce two ingredients: Aloversil, which supports the appearance of denser hair in men, and Dehyquart S18, designed to condition hair.
The company says it has advanced its Beyond Beauty campaign with the new launches “by celebrating uniqueness and self-expression in the cosmetics industry.”
“Understanding how people live, behave, interact, and express themselves inspires new beauty trends and shapes innovative products and routines,” says Dr Valérie Pian-Parison, senior marketing manager at BASF, France.
“Our new concept illustrates how cosmetic products can help the skin recover from environmental stresses, how beauty rituals can reconnect people with nature, and how textures influence our emotions and the perception of a product’s performance.”
The Cosmet’Agro 2026 trade show in Paris, France, will take place from January 13–14.
Combating hair loss
Cosmetic ingredient Aloversil has natural peptides designed to support the appearance of denser hair in men experiencing visible signs of shedding. The new solution helps maintain a healthy scalp environment, which is key for visibly stronger, fuller, and more resilient hair.
In a randomized, double-blinded, and placebo-controlled clinical study involving 60 men, daily application of a leave-in hair serum containing Aloversil for four months improved the look of hair coverage and density. Instrumental assessments confirmed the results.
Aloversil helps make hair appear denser for men.
In vitro studies demonstrate that Aloversil supports the body’s own cellular communication and natural microvascularization, both of which are associated with nourishing healthy hair follicles and enhancing the hair’s appearance.
Aloversil is made from the seedcake of sea buckthorn, a byproduct of juice and oil production, and is 100% natural origin according to ISO 16128.
Providing hair conditioning
BASF’s Personal Care business says it is introducing a new hair care ingredient to the European market with Dehyquart S18 (INCI: Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine).
The cationic conditioning agent is designed for use in hair care formulations, particularly conditioners, hair masks, and hair treatments. It is readily biodegradable (based on OECD standards) and has a renewable carbon content of 78%.
The company asserts that this makes the ingredient an effective, naturally derived alternative to persistent quaternary ammonium compounds that are traditionally used to achieve conditioning results in hair care products.
Dehyquart S18 is also suitable for formulations with silicone alternatives, as well as for vegan and cruelty-free formulation concepts.
Performance tests have shown that Dehyquart S18 enhances both wet and dry combability by forming a smooth film on the hair surface under acidic pH conditions. It also improves suppleness at low dosages and provides reliable frizz protection in high humidity.
