A Revieve trend report has revealed that DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) consumers are increasingly making science-driven, personalized, and performance-based purchases.
Consumers in the region are steadily shifting focus to clinical efficacy, ingredient transparency, personalized recommendations, and digital-first experiences — contrary to product choices motivated by trends and traditional mass-market approaches,
The beauty tech company’s trend report, The Future of Beauty in DACH: Consumer Trends Shaping 2026, is based on “hundreds of millions” of AI-powered consumer interactions, sourced from its global platform.
According to the report, personal care products make up almost 90% of the German mass beauty market. Of this bulk, the premium beauty category is expected to outpace overall market growth through 2030.
The report also underlines that natural and organic product demand is growing faster than traditional products, reflecting consumer desire for transparency and ethics. Fifty-six percent of consumers also prioritize fragrance-free formulations, and 33% avoid paraben-containing products. The most purchased categories in the region are cleansers, serums, and moisturizers.
Leading skin care concerns in the region are visible pores (58%), acne (44%), and redness (37%).
“For beauty brands operating in the DACH region, the message is clear: the future belongs to those who combine scientific credibility, intelligent personalization, and digital innovation to build trust and long-term consumer loyalty,” says Revieve.
Germany’s shift to science and tech
Revieve’s report highlights rising demand for clinical efficacy and ingredient transparency.
The report underlines that Germany remains a market dominated by mass beauty products. However, consumers across the region are looking for scientifically backed, clinically substantiated skin care.
Revieve’s data shows that factually based claims and established brand trust are taking over as primary purchase drivers, with consumers becoming increasingly critical of marketing promises over measurable results.
The region sees 40% higher purchase rates than the global average in the clinically-backed skin care space, with 52% of consumers expressing an active preference for dermacosmetics.
Furthermore, the report reflects that the continuous move toward AI as the most desirable mode of recommendation also extends to the DACH region.
Consumers are utilizing AI-powered skin diagnostics, tech-based recommendations for personalized routines, and digital experiences such as try-on technology to navigate the increasingly saturated beauty space.
Revieve’s data shows that 58% of Gen Z engage with selfie-based digital experiences, and that AI-powered diagnostic technology increases purchase confidence.
“For brands, AI skin analysis and Augmented Reality-powered experiences are no longer differentiators — they are becoming expected parts of the customer journey,” says the report.
Multi-generational skin care
Gen Z consumers are driving digital engagement in the DACH skin care market while older consumers remain a valuable audience for clinically proven beauty products.
The report underlines that the DACH skin care market is “far more multi-generational than many brands realize.” While 32% of this market demographic comes from Gen Z, 68% are older than 25 years, demonstrating a whitespace for appeal in older consumers.
In the DACH region, consumers aged 45 and up account for 25% of the skin care market, says the report. These consumers boast higher disposable income, higher average basket value, and longer brand loyalty.
“Nearly seven in 10 skin care consumers are aged 25 and above, with Gen X representing one of the region’s most commercially valuable audiences due to its purchasing power and long-term brand loyalty,” says Revieve.
While the report highlights older generations’ presence in the market, Gen Z is redefining online consumption patterns. They outperform the average consumer with 85% engagement rates, 40% higher purchase rates, and 40% higher add-to-cart rates.
The young generation takes more initiative for research, comparison, interaction, and conversion of sales, according to Revieve.
The report lays out a generational distinction in which older consumers have more purchasing power and Gen Z drives digital engagement. Following this thread, brands can leverage opportunities for differentiated strategies that cater to the digitally native group and appeal to older skin care users seeking clinically proven solutions.
Personalization drives purchases
AI-powered diagnostics are shaping personalized beauty routines across the DACH region.
Skin care demands vary by skin type and skin needs. Revieve’s data reveals that AI-driven personalization is especially valued to achieve personalized skin results. According to the data, 22% of consumers don’t know their skin type, revealing a space for AI diagnostics.
Of those who identify their skin type, 33% designate it as combination skin, indicating demand for specified products. The report states that brands that offer personalized routines based on individual concerns stand to build trust and confidence with consumers.
Furthermore, consumers are increasingly building routines with products that cohesively work together rather than viewing their skin care as a collection of individual products. For example, 77% of consumers value having a structured morning routine for their skin.
