In-Cosmetics Global 2023: Chemyunion’s skin and hair care ingredients target health
04 Apr 2023 --- Chemyunion has released two ingredients – Peptid4 S-Control to reduce skin oiliness and Polluout Detox for damaged hair repair.
PersonalCareInsights spoke to the company about its innovations at In-Cosmetics Global 2023 from March 28-30 in Barcelona, Spain.
Peptid4 S-Contol is a synthetic tripeptide to control oiliness and reduce visible pores by blocking the melanocortin 5 receptor (MC5R). “Excessive sebum production can cause great discomfort to the people affected, which leads to signs such as intense shine, dilated pores and contributing to the development of acne,” the company details.
“In an effort to provide oily skin control for all ages, Chemyunion has developed a new tripeptide that acts by blocking the MC5R, a regulator of sebogenesis. Peptid4 S-Control results from in silico screening carried out in more than 300,000 candidate molecules to obtain the most potent and safest structure proven using in vitro and in vivo tests with immediate and long-lasting results.”
Chemyunion shares that Peptid4 S-Control reduced the formation of lipid droplets by 28% and, in four hours, reduced skin oiliness by 15%. Additionally, in 14 days, the ingredient showed a “statistically significant” reduction in skin oiliness by 31.5%.
Peptid4 S-Control works by balancing and mattifying oily skin. The water-soluble ingredient can be used in cream, serum, gel, tonic, micellar water and makeup applications.
Chemyunion shares that “skinification” is an evolution of hair care that embraces health from the root. Problems from hard water, swimming pool water and other impure particulate matter can affect hair and scalp health.
From damage to the hair fiber and loss of strength to impaired barrier function of the scalp and scalp irritation and inflammation, Polluout Detox addresses damage concerns.
It is a cosmetic hair care active with detoxification properties able to restore and extend hair health and well-being from root to tip. The ingredient has a synergistic action working in three stages, promoting cleaning and recovery of the hair fiber and scalp, eliminating impurities and promoting hair health from root to tip.
“Polluout Detox is designed to remove harmful particles and interferences from hair and scalp, such as calcium, magnesium, copper and other pollutants, while improving shine, compatibility and treatment effectiveness, as well as protecting the hair’s DNA and revitalizing it from the source,” Chemyunion shares.
The company further details that the ingredient is compatible with shampoos, aqueous solutions and anionic or non-ionic emulsions. It was tested and found to remove pollutants of up to 18.2% from hair fibers along with reducing calcium by 38% and copper by 57.7% in shampoos.
