Specialty ingredient manufacturer Gattefossé has unveiled Haute Couture, a collection of six cosmetic formulas designed to merge beauty with the world of high fashion.
“Haute couture” refers to high-end, custom-made fashion that uses professional craftsmanship and often luxurious materials. Gattefossé designed its range to present beauty products as wearable materials that “dress” the skin as couture fabrics do.
The collection took Gattefossé’s French applications laboratory over a year to create. It features six finished formulas inspired by classic fashion materials, including cotton, velvet, silk, cashmere, elastane, and vinyl. Each formula translates these textiles into sensory skin textures.
The company presents the launch as a runway-style event called Inspiration 2026 — Haute Couture. Each formula aims to demonstrate texture innovation, performance, and formulation expertise in cosmetics and contains a range of functional actives, including emulsifiers, emollients, and bioactive ingredients.
Gattefossé will also reveal one mystery ingredient inspired by silk exclusively at In-cosmetics Global 2026 in Paris, France, on April 14–16.
Tailored textures
The Cotton Fluff face cream aims to replicate the softness of cotton with a “cloud-like,” marshmallowy texture when applied to skin. The formula uses Gattefossé’s Emulium Dolcea MB ingredient to create a creamy and bouncy structure. Meanwhile, the Lipocire A SG ingredient melts at body temperature, delivering a soft sensory experience.
The cream also contains Noxifense, a bioactive ingredient derived from upcycled sea buckthorn leaves. It is touted to soothe and envelop the skin like a cotton sheet.
The second formula, the Hydrating Velvet Blur, is a complexion base mimicking velvet. It has a peachy-pink foam texture that creates an immediate blurring effect and smooths imperfections.
The formula is made without silicone. It combines Emulium Dolcea MB, Acticire MB, and Gatuline Renew ingredients to provide hydration and a velvety feel. Geleol MB further increases the formula’s viscosity while Labrafac CC MB and MOD MB add a rich, powdery finish.
The collection turns fabrics into texture-driven cosmetic formulas. The Cashmerize Body Cream aims to recreate the comforting feeling that Gattefossé says cashmere is known for. The formula has a rich texture that restores the skin’s suppleness by melting into the skin.
In the cashmere-inspired cream, Lipocire A SG enhances the melting application, and Cocoate BG MB improves playtime and gives the formula a non-sticky feel. Moreover, EnergiNius, which contains Indian ginseng extract, works to give the skin a firmer appearance.
The fourth formula in the collection, the Pure Silk Veil fluid cream, is said to deliver a light, airy veil to the skin, inspired by the feel of silk fabric. It uses Emulium Dermolea MB to moisturize and soothe the skin while maintaining high spreadability.
The formula blends Cocoate BG MB, MOD MB, and Lipocire A SG to improve its glide. It also contains the silk-inspired ingredient that Gattefossé will disclose later this year at In-cosmetics Global.
The Vinylip Balm is the fifth in the fashion-inspired formula series. The vanilla lip balm aims to capture the glossy shine of vinyl. It has a creamy texture that creates an ultra-glossy, non-sticky finish on the lips.
Acticire MB and Lipocire A SG provide comfort, while Emulium Illustro and Plurol Diisostearic CG increase the balm’s viscosity.
The ingredients together form a dense oil phase with a high refractive index, which Gattefossé says resembles polybutene, resulting in a long-lasting finish that resembles vinyl film. Gatuline In-Tense MB further delivers a tightening effect on the lips.
Lastly, the Elaskin Bi-gel draws inspiration from elastane to create a light blue gel-cream that sculpts and hugs facial contours like a bodycon dress.
In the formula, Emulfree CBG MB creates a bi-gel texture, Acticire MB provides a non-sticky feel, and EleVastin helps redefine the face oval for firmer, toned skin. The formula is suitable for summer products and for combination-to-oily skin types seeking a light hydration cream.
