Givaudan Active Beauty has launched PrimalHyal 300, a hyaluronic acid-based skin healing ingredient for post-procedure recovery. The ingredient addresses the rising demand for recovery care alongside the increasing popularity of aesthetic treatments.
The ingredients company has an extensive history of utilizing hyaluronic acid in its solutions and is now honing the moisture-retaining natural sugar molecule for skin repair.
PrimalHyal 300 reinforces the skin’s natural defense system and quickens healing when the skin barrier is damaged, such as in post-procedure care. Givaudan underlines the necessity for understanding and fine-tuning after care, citing the fivefold increase in aesthetic treatments over the last three decades.
“Recent scientific discoveries have highlighted bleomycin hydrolase as a key enzyme involved in hydration, wound healing, and epidermal barrier integrity. When the skin barrier is disrupted, fast and coordinated repair becomes essential,” says the company.
According to Givaudan, the hyaluronic acid-based ingredient emboldens skin regeneration by driving bleomycin hydrolase levels by 79%, supporting skin hydration while accelerating its existing recovery process.
Produced in a biorefinery, the company boasts the sustainable innovation and circular economic practices behind the ingredient’s production.
Clinically backed innovation
Ex vivo explant model testing showed that PrimalHyal 300 supported skin barrier restoration and increased ceramide content — the naturally skin cell-binding lipid molecules — by up to 15-fold even after harsh treatments such as chemical peeling.
Clinical studies conducted on women who underwent deep fractional CO2 laser treatments further confirmed these effects. Improvements in skin hydration were visible after three days. Redness and irritation were “substantially” reduced after a week.
Overarchingly, the company reports that the ingredient achieved “smoother, calmer, and more resilient skin” in test subjects.
“Our skin is our first line of defense — a complex and dynamic structure that must repair itself effectively when compromised,” says Amandine Scandolera, head of Biological Evaluation at Givaudan Active Beauty.
“PrimalHyal 300 is the result of years of research into how hyaluronic acid can support the skin’s natural repair and cell reconnection processes. By specifically reactivating bleomycin hydrolase production, it helps the skin heal better, faster, and more effectively.”
Previously, Givaudan released PrimalHyal NeuroYouth. The ingredient targets skin rejuvenation by addressing “Neuro Skin Aging” through nerve fiber revival and amino acid delivery. NeuroYouth is a complex built on low molecular weight hyaluronic acid and amino acids, and functions by reviving nerve fiber functionality and reinforcing neuronal connections. The company teased the release to Personal Care Insights at the PCHi 2026 show.
In another development from March, Givaudan increased its presence in the South West Asia and North Africa region through its expanded office in Istanbul, Turkey. The office aims to enhance creative and technical capabilities, offering tailored solutions for local and regional customers, and is said to reflect Givaudan’s confidence in Turkey’s market growth.
