In-cosmetics Global 2026 live: Roquette unveils sensory-driven alginates and softgel tech
Key takeaways
- Roquette launched four new ingredients focused on texture and performance at In-cosmetics Global 2026.
- DS 700 combines capsule packaging with strong water-resistant film-forming properties.
- New alginates enable diverse textures, responding to demand for sensorial beauty experiences.

Roquette is debuting four cosmetic ingredients aimed at enhancing texture, sensoriality, and wear performance at the ongoing In-cosmetics Global 2026 tradeshow in Paris, France (April 14–16).
The launch includes Beauté by Roquette DS 700, a starch-based softgel for film-forming technology. Personal Care Insights speaks with Sophie Castelain, global communications manager at Roquette Beauté, live from the show floor. She tells us that Beauté by Roquette DS 700 is positioned as a dual-function ingredient that combines packaging innovation with performance benefits.
“It’s a ready-to-use softgel capsule technology with customizable premium packaging, with which you can create single-dose cosmetics, and you protect your formulae thanks to the capsule technology,” Castelain says.
The vegan, biodegradable film-forming compound is said to deliver high water resistance, making it suitable for use in sun care and makeup formulations. It can support long-lasting wear and improved SPF durability compared to conventional synthetic alternatives.
Complementing this are three new marine-sourced Beauté by Roquette alginates designed to create diverse textures for skin care and color cosmetics.
Roquette is showcasing four new ingredients focused on texture and performance at In-cosmetics Global 2026.“Beauté by Roquette AG 215, AG 219, and AG 291 are premium alginates that are sourced from renewable brown seaweeds and are readily biodegradable. What’s interesting about our alginate range is that they offer a very wide span of gelling behaviors, so you can create different textures,” Castelain explains.
Sensoriality focus
According to Castelain, the alginate range aligns with current consumer demands for cosmetic formulations with innovative textures.
“We see that consumers want more plant-based and high-performing ingredients, but wellness also goes through sensoriality and fun and creative experiences,” she says.
“Brands are looking to stand out to consumers by introducing new textures that bring some fun moments, soothing moments, or cocooning moments.”
Castelain says that Roquette’s plant-based ingredients respond to that trend as they allow brands to play around with a wide range of textures. Each variant in the alginate range targets specific applications, such as jelly and stick formats or viscosity enhancement, while also claiming to deliver a cooling and lightweight sensorial profile.
“You have a wide spectrum of textures from viscous to elastic gels to firmer shape-keeping sticks and jelly water clear sticks, for example, and the alginates have the characteristic of bringing a lot of freshness to different textures,” she concludes.
