Sally Hansen debuts Trolls-inspired nail polish collection in Dreamworks collab
04 Sep 2023 --- Sally Hansen has unveiled its latest collection in partnership with the newest chapter of DreamWorks Animation’s musical film franchise, Trolls Band Together, featuring celebrities Camila Cabello, Justin Timberlake and Troye Sivan.
Branded the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri x Trolls, the limited-edition collection launches just ahead of the film’s November 17 release.
“After two films of true friendship and relentless flirting, Poppy and Branch are now, in Trolls Band Together, officially, finally, a couple,” illustrates the nail polish brand. “As they grow closer, Poppy discovers that Branch has a secret past. He was once part of her favorite boy band phenomenon, BroZone.”
Colorful energy
Inspired by DreamWorks’ beloved Trolls characters, the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri x Trolls collection features eight new pearl and crème finish shades that reflect the colorful energy of the Trolls universe.
The collection sports vibrant “Popalicious” pinks inspired by Poppy, alongside bold “Bandtastic” blues “celebrating Branch’s boy-band days.”
The quick-dry polish is made with Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri technology, featuring a 3-in-1 formula with a built-in base and topcoat that “dries in just 60 seconds.”
“The Sally Hansen Insta-Dri x Trolls collection is designed to bring joy, creativity and self-expression to everyone who wears it, just like the Trolls. These vibrant colors are sure to add a little pop and shine to our customer’s next manicure,” comments Celia Tombalakian, global VP for Sally Hansen.
Nail tech innovation
In other recent developments, Sally Hansen launched its limited-edition Sally Hansen x Sesame Street Collection. The collection features ten Sally Hansen Insta-Dri shades and textures inspired by characters like Oscar the Grouch, Big Bird and Elmo.
Earlier in the year, Sally Hansen teamed up with the Peeps to introduce a limited-edition collection inspired by marshmallow treats. The Sally Hansen Insta-Dri X Peeps Collection comprises seven shades that feature an all new “sugar texture” for a finish that “feels exactly like a sugar-coated Peeps Marshmallow treat.”
With a growing product base, Sally Hansen has offered an AI-generated try-on service, which gives consumers the option to try on products from the comfort of their home. Supported by AgileHand augmented reality technology – hand-tracking tech that determines wrist and finger sizes automatically – the platform allows consumers to see nail polish colors instantly generated on a live image of their fingernails with their smartphone.
The top nail color trends of 2023 were explored in detail in a Perfect Corp. report released this year, which examined the evolving nail color trends across the retail landscape. The analysis is based on big data processed through the company’s YouCam Nails app, a consumer app featuring thousands of AR-powered filters that allows users to virtually try-on nail color and nail art effects in real time.
“Hand and nail care” innovation is reported to have increased in personal care over the summer, with a compound annual growth of 25% when comparing 2018 and 2022 launches, according to data by Innova Market Insights.
