Revlon has launched White Diamonds Icon from Elizabeth Taylor, a perfume reimagining a legacy scent for a rapidly evolving and growing fragrance market driven by Gen Z.
Revlon describes the reimagined perfume “not as a reinvention of a classic, but as a conversation with it.” The brand underlines its care taken to modernize the legacy fragrance while preserving its heritage and Taylor’s influence.
The original scent was crafted with the 50s classic Hollywood actress Elizabeth Taylor and is said to have helped launch an era of celebrity perfumery. The reimagined fragrance launched on the 35th anniversary of the original White Diamonds.
“In a category defined by constant newness, enduring fragrance brands are rare. White Diamonds remains iconic because it represents something instantly recognizable: glamour, confidence, and Elizabeth Taylor’s unmistakable cultural legacy,” says Amber Garrison, president, Elizabeth Arden and Fragrances at Revlon.
“As stewards of her vision for fragrance, our role is not simply to preserve that legacy, but to thoughtfully evolve it for today’s fragrance consumers.”
Reimagining heritage
The fragrance features ingredients by IFF’s LMR Naturals, including Green Mandarin LMR, Orange Flower LMR, Oakmoss LMR, and Cristalfizz, also by IFF.
“We wanted to preserve the sparkle of her fragrances with Cristalfizz but modernized it with a touch of pink pepper for energy and edge,” says Natasha Côté-Mouzannar, a senior perfumer at Catapano.
White Diamonds Icon from Elizabeth Taylor Eau de Parfum is available on Amazon, while White Diamonds Icon Hair and Body Mist will be available on Amazon at the end of August.
White Diamonds Icon aims to connect with a new generation of beauty consumers while preserving Elizabeth Taylor's fragrance heritage.
As part of the efforts to preserve Taylor’s legacy, a portion of the proceeds from every House of Taylor product continues to benefit The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation, which provides direct care and support to people living with HIV and AIDS around the world.
Fragrance boom
Gen Z has increasingly been impacting how brands position their fragrance marketing and scent developments. Many beauty players are aiming to appeal to the younger generation who are using scent as a form of self-expression.
Earlier this month, NYX Professional Makeup entered fragrance with four hair and body mist products. Parent company L’Oréal positioned the new products as an affordable, TikTok-native entry into the fast-growing mass scent market. The launch is a deliberate play for Gen Z consumers.
In another move to capture the attention of Gen Z, Diesel entered the women’s fragrance category with Only Desire, a L’Oréal-licensed Eau de Parfum. The release was inaugurated with Gen Z actress and singer Dove Cameron as global ambassador.
Additionally, Así Fragrances released a collection of over 50 personal and home fragrance products to encourage scent layering and rotation instead of a single signature personal fragrance — a trend that is rearing its head in Gen Z.
Fragrance has generally been emerging as a category of interest in the personal care market through a series of product launches, market entries, and financial reports reflecting its sturdy performance.
Bath & Body Works recently made its debut on the Brazilian beauty market with a store opening in São Paulo. The move is part of the company’s international growth strategy and aims to tap into the growing regional demand for fragrance-led products.
Meanwhile, Olaplex, the hair care brand specializing in bond repair treatments, has expanded into the fragrance category with the launch of its limited edition Signature Hair and Body mist.
Similarly, earlier this year, Huda Beauty and PlusOne entered the fragrance category with respective product launches. The cosmetics brand unveiled its Easy Bake Intense eau de parfum. PlusOne’s Pheromone-Inspired Perfume Oils collection taps into mood-enhancing and self-esteem-boosting claims aligned with neurocosmetic trends.
The fragrance boom is also visible in financial reports. L’Oréal Group reported that fragrance was one of the primary segments driving its top-line growth in Q1 of 2026.
